A few things I don't get...

I don't get the "Real Housewives" one bit. I know my mom like that show, but i don't get what makes them so popular, or where the housewife part is, because i see these women fight, party, shop and do other things but not housewife, not so much.

I don't get why Justin Bieber is so huge. I heard a few seconds of him singing and asked if that as really a guy, and my cousin said it was.

I don't get 'purity balls' and honestly it strikes me as a little possesive and creepy. I think if you have a daughter, she should be taught how to make good life choices, how to say No, and self-defense.   I'm also not getting why it is that they don't seem to have mother and son purity parties.   Teenage boys need to be taught to keep it in their pants.

I don't get the Bachelor and Bachelorette series. It's like watching an arranged marriage trying to arrange itself and it's not especially romantic to me.   I'm also not sure why there are STILL V.C. Andrews books coming out every few months when she's been dead for 20 years. I know there's a ghostwriter, but where's all this coming from?     I don't get why people go to tanning booths but i sunburn very easily, and that's why i don't go, but to each his own.

I don't get why people don't vaccinate their children. If I had a baby that came down with polio or whooping cough, because i couldnt' be bothered to have the kid get a shot then I would hate myself.

I don't get evangelical Christians much. I did go to a church where some members went door-to-door to invite people and i occassionally get Jehovah's Witnesses to come by and sell me on their religion, but I know that faith isn't for me. I appreciate my right to vote, blue jeans, blood transfusions and birthday cake, if if i'm not especially happy about getting older.    Christianity is a mishmosh of pagan beliefs and other assorted desert nomads' mythologies, and just doesn't work for me. I have a KJV bible to read, but the inconsistencies are mind-boggling.  I also own a Gideons' New testament.    I know where all the churches are in this neighborhood and if i wanted to go, I would go.    I have been to church, but i can't bring myself to beileve that i could be useful to something that can create a universe.

TRUE freedom of religion should include freedom FROM religion. Freedom of religion is not  created by having one loudmouth tell everyone where and when to go to church.  Freedom of religion is in the state not giving any preference to any religious denomination.   I'd rather take my chances with the secularists than the fundamentalists.
